If you enjoy being in nature, this one is for you. The world’s first floating tent is what your fantasies are made of. If you can think up a more pleasurable way to spend time in May, it let us know, but we think the floating tent has got it all. Smithfly, a company found in Ohio has come up with a product that lets you sleep on water protected by a tent.
Named the Shoal Tent, this wonderful product is basically a tent that can be mounted on a water base. The tent is 8 feet tall and 8 feet wide when measured outside. This makes it tall people inclusive as someone who is 6’3″ can easily lie and even stand up to his height while in the middle of the tent. Weighing a good 75 pounds, the tent is easily rolled up and folded just like other normal tents. When folded it can enter a star age bag that is 60 x 24 x 18 inches.
The company, Smithfly, gives some suggestions on where to use it which is on, “your favorite farm ponds, saltwater flat, spring creek, or even on your favorite river.” But they don’t need to publicize a lot or try to make this sound appealing to is because it already is.
The tent base is definitely a raft which is inflatable and covered by a tent topper. People who have had the pleasure of using this tent all agree that the tent is very comfortable and does not need any poles as it is inflatable. But what seems to be the best part of it all is that it is resistant to strong winds.
The tent fabric certainly is waterproof, or it would be unable to float. It has a “six-inch thick drop stitched” floor which also doubles as a sort of air mattress and looks so cool. It’ll be a good place to hang out with your friends. The floor of the tent inflates up to 10 pounds per square inch while the tines that keep it floating inflate to 3 pounds per square inch.
In its product description, the company states that “The tent topper sides all attach and detach using heavy duty hook and loop for the ability to use just the top and get in and out easily through the sides if the need arises suddenly.”
The Smithfly company was established in 2010 by a fly fisherman named Ethan Smith. The company is really big on environmental conservation, and one of its goals is to make wonderful products for its company while still conserving the environment.
The Shoal Tent is set at a price of $1,499. It is, however, open to renting, and you can find it in stores from January 2018. Don’t worry about accidents as the tent comes with a manual foot pump, a patch kit, and a storage bag to help you take care of any situations that might arise.
